Shower & Tub Waterproofing

One Day Waterproofing (ODW) provides complete shower, tub, and steam room waterproofing services to the commercial and residential industry. Through the utilization of our custom foam shower trays and benches along with waterproof foam panels, our leakproof installation system enables an industry leading ‘rapid inspection’ i.e. Install to flood test in 4 hours. Our exclusive Italian made foam panels are the most rigid available on the market. They have 3 layers of waterproofing offering the industry best protection against leaks.

There are other installers who use similar materials, but none have the capacity to manufacture custom foam shower trays and benches the same day. Their standard is a 7 to 10 day turn around just for the custom foam. If they are not using custom foam, the alternative is a stock foam tray which must be altered on site which destroys the level perimeter in the process and/or the industry required 2% slope. Altering a foam bench in the field is quite the challenge. The existing foam board manufacturers offer training and issue certificates of attendance, but those manufacturers offer no validation of proficiency.

The ODW system is best installed at the bare stud stage after plumbing rough-in and before drywall. This forward-thinking process allows all sides of the shower to be easily inspected upon completion. Flood testing before drywall means we can detect and correct any installation errors and eliminate all those hard-to-find and difficult to repair downstream bathroom water leaks. No one wants to tear apart a completed shower late in the construction process, tracking down a leak. The drywall crew can butt the drywall up to our waterproof panels thereby eliminating the guesswork of which areas to cover. There is no need to tape and float the joint between the drywall and the tiled area, keeping drywall materials out of the wet areas completely.

Mudding the walls of a shower is the classic method using highly skilled workers to achieve plumb and flat surfaces, but it is a lengthy procedure with a 3-day curing time when topical waterproofing is used. Mudding also requires a sand pile somewhere on the jobsite that must be managed, and difficult in freezing weather. Just keeping the other trades from parking on the pile is a headache on its own, let alone bringing in a truck to dump the load somewhere out of the way. While achieving smooth, rounded shapes had been the draw for mudding showers, the advance of technology and our computer controlled cutting equipment allows ODW to repeatedly create the same shapes identically. Gone will be the argument between the framer, drywaller, and tile installer as to why the edges are not nice and crisp and the curves uneven.

Working with ODW streamlines the building process by having ODW replace partial duties of the plumber, framer, drywaller, mason, water proofer, and tile installer thereby reducing their costs, & eliminating the cumbersome coordination of the trades for you as a builder, along with the inevitable finger pointing of transition issues between the various subcontractors. This translates to quicker building times, less back office paperwork, and more efficient use of your field employees.

Our system is excellent for zero entry / curb-less showers with either wood framing or concrete. NTCA standards require mud beds to have a minimum thickness which often conflicts with dropping the plywood between the joists to get the required slope. A poor drain location can further complicate the problem. Our custom Foam has no such limitation and can be sloped to near zero thickness and still maintain its structural capabilities. Heated floors, benches, and lounge chairs are an optional part of our offerings and therefore easily integrated into our complete waterproofing system.
